Know The Signs

Dental (or periodontal) disease is the most commonly diagnosed health issue in pets. Signs that your pet might have dental disease include:

• Yellow or brown tartar buildup on the teeth
• Red, swollen, or bleeding gums
• Persistent bad breath
• Excessive drooling
• Changes in eating or chewing habits
• Pawing at the face
• Loose teeth
• Lethargy

Even if your pet isn’t showing these symptoms, we advise having a veterinarian assess their dental health at least once a year. Without regular check-ups, bacteria and food debris can lead to the breakdown of soft tissue and bone around the teeth, potentially causing severe periodontal disease, tooth loss, and costly oral surgery.
